Imagine this, we’re talking with a prospective client who is a lawyer. He mentions that his objective is to start his new practice with proper procedures in place from the get-go. You have to admire that.

When the topic of data backup arises, he shares with us that he gets an “F” in this category. Such honestly from an attorney (well, he is still a new lawyer) provoked us to ask why he would give himself such a failing grade. His reply… “I have an external hard drive but I never backup to it. I simply forget to do it.”

Hmmmm, allow me to digress for a moment…after I heard that, man, I couldn’t wait to write this article and post it on our blog.

Alright, back to the story. So our attorney prospect has the pieces of the puzzle in place to secure his digital assets, but he simply isn’t doing it. Well, as any good sales person should do, we demonstrated how our product offers automatic backup. We discussed how the software uses an auto-scheduler that he could configure once and that’s it.

So, if he set the Scheduler to run daily at 7:00pm, then the software would auto-launch and do an automatic backup. Basically, our software captures any changes, additions or deletions to files on your computer. More often than not, people add files on a daily basis, however, it normally only ranges in the megabytes of new data so these incremental backups normally complete within just a few minutes.

Below is an image of the Filetwin icon in the task bar. The only interruption a user will experience during a backup is the icon will pulsate to indicate an automatic backup is in progress.

Needless to say that it’s amazing how each client has their own reason (or favorite feature) that helps them take the leap and try out new technology to satisfy their need.

What did we learn from this meeting…each client IS truly unique. That saying is so old and over-used – - but it absolutely proved itself true with this experience. Their work environment, comfort-level with new technology and security concerns are all different so our responsibility is to make sure we talk to each client as a new and unique assignment.
